Gea Vaska is a Professional Violist who is also my Violin Teacher in Yamaha Music School Pontianak. Here are the interview questions and the answers...
1.
When did you start to play violin?
I started to play violin in 2005 when I was 17 at that time.

Why did you choose Violin instead of other instruments?
I choose violin because I think violin is the most difficult instrument to be play. And I want to show the world that Far East Asians can also play the violins as well as the western does.

Have you ever gone to a Music School or Music Institutes?
Yes, I ever studied at the Local Music School in Bandung.

When you were a child, did you ever dream of becoming a Professional Violist?
To be honest, No... My dream when I was a child was to be a racer.

Have you ever followed a violin competition?
No

Have you ever joined any Orchestra?
Yes, I ever joined the International Orchestra called ‘SAYOWE’. SAYOWE or well known as Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. The audition to be the member of SAYOWE is held once every two years. And thank God, I qualified the audition in 2010 and joined them

How does it feel to be working with an International Orchestra?
It feels so great to be working with them. Besides, I was the conductor’s assistance and worked to flip the musical notes pages which not everybody can do it really well. Because the one who worked as the Conductor’s Assistance should be able to read them very well like eating a piece of cake.

Do you ever think of playing another instruments besides Violin?
Yes, and that would be Piano. I’m in the process of learning it now.
9.
Which one would you choose, being a Soloist or being in the Orchestra?
I would love to be in the orchestra. Because being a soloist is like being a poetic person who read the poetry by and for himself. Being in the orchestra, it’s like being in a group discussion with the members and the instruments. It’s alive.
10.
Can you give some tips to become a good violist for the beginner?
The point is, never gets tired of practicing. Play Violin is not that hard, you are the one who make it hard!

INTRODUCTION
What is the meaning of being successful? Being successful has another meaning of a person who had accomplished one of its priority goals in life. Everyone wants to achieve success. A twenty-four year old violin teacher who has accomplished one of the goal of his Life, he had become a Professional Violist. His name is Gea Vaska.
ROAD TO SUCCESS
Gea Vaska has started to play violin seven years ago when he was 17 Years old at the local Music School in Bandung. He chose Violin instead of another musical instruments because he thought Violin was one of the most difficult instruments, so he wanted to show the world that Far East Asians can play Violin as good as the Western did.
WHAT’S INTERESTING?
This man had honestly said he never thought or dreamed that he’d be a Professional Violist. His dream when he was a kid was to be a racer! And when I asked him if he ever thought of playing another instruments besides Violin, he said Piano would fit him well. He ever joined one of the most popular Orchestra. It was called “SAYOWE.” SAYOWE stands for Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and it is held once every 2 years. He joined this orchestra in 2010 as one of the violin player after qualified the audition.
BETWEEN BEING A SOLOIST OR PLAYING WITH THE ORCHESTRA
He felt so great about being one of the members and being the Conductor’s Assistance on the Front Row. Gea also said that he would prefer to be in the Orchestra rather than to play solo. “Being a soloist is like reading a poetry by and for yourself. If in the Orchestra, it seems like you’re having a discussion with the instruments and with the other members.” He said truthfully. He felt comfortable with his Orchestra Team.
